Among motors, motocross and girls…
We’re still the biggest fans of our mechanic Andris’s son, Emīls Ivanovs. He’s 11 years old, but has taken part in motocross for the past 6 years, progressing from MX65 to MX85. These are not just numbers, they’re facts.
Last year, Emīls got close to the winners’ podium and competed for 2nd place in the National Motocross Cup. However, he finished fifth overall in the decisive stage of the National Cup in his age group – MX65. Sometimes small technical errors can turn everything upside down.
However, thanks to his excellent results and recognition from the Latvian Motor Sports Federation, from this year Emīls can compete in MX85 class. In the 5th stage of the National Motocross Cup, which took place at the end of last month, Emīls finished an honourable third.
“Stable grounding under the tutelage of coach Aivars Ābols have helped Emīls to improve and scale new heights. Aivars is at the height of his powers but still runs the Mārupe Auto Moto Club “Bieriņi” and guides kids to success. To date Emīls has already proved himself on the track, but there’s still room for improvement,” says our mechanic Andris talking about his son’s career in motor sport.
Emīls represents Saule Sports Club, which he’s been member of since the start of this year. Fingers crossed that he’ll succeed.
